BJP Nagaland announces month-long ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’

KOHIMA, SEP 17 (NPN): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Nagaland, on Wednesday announced a month-long ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’ from September 17 to October 17 to commemorate Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 76th birthday and mark his completion of 25 years as a constitutional head.
Addressing a press conference at the BJP Nagaland state office in Kohima, advisor Er. Kropol Vitsu, MLA, said the campaign would be observed as a period dedicated to public service, guided by the party’s mantra, “Jan Seva Hi Prabhu Seva” (service to humanity is service to God).
Vitsu said BJP workers across the country have traditionally marked the Prime Minister’s birthday through ‘Seva Pakhwada’. He said this year’s observance assumes added significance as Modi is scheduled to complete 25 uninterrupted years in public service as a constitutional head on October 7, 2026.
According to Vitsu, government programmes have focused on poverty alleviation, food security, healthcare, housing, financial inclusion, agriculture, women and youth empowerment, digital services and infrastructure. He cited government figures claiming that 25 crore people have been lifted out of poverty, free ration support has reached 80 crore citizens, more than 55 crore people have gained access to healthcare under Ayushman Bharat, and over four crore permanent houses have been provided to economically weaker sections.
Vitsu also highlighted India’s response to terrorism and its expanding role in addressing global challenges, besides referring to national programmes aimed at the socio-economic development of tribal communities.
On science and technology, he cited the Mangalyaan mission, Chandrayaan-3 lunar landing and Aditya-L1 mission as notable achievements. He also pointed to the expansion of India’s space-startup ecosystem, stating that the country now has more than 400 space startups, compared with one in 2014.
He further highlighted the modernisation and expansion of the railway network, dedicated freight corridors, Vande Bharat trains, airport expansion and initiatives including Digital India, PM Gati Shakti, the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme and Make in India.
Vitsu also referred to the Rashtriya Innovation Challenge, describing it as an opportunity for young people to develop technology- and innovation-driven solutions aligned with the vision of Viksit Bharat.
Emphasising that the goal of building a developed India cannot be achieved by one leader or government alone, Vitsu called for greater participation from citizens.
“The greatest tribute we can give to this idea of a developed India is not merely to celebrate its achievements, but to become responsible contributors to the nation’s future,” Vitsu said.
He urged citizens to adopt the principle, “My country’s progress is my responsibility.”
Vitsu said the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan would reinforce the BJP’s emphasis on public service and contribute to its vision of a prosperous, inclusive and developed India by 2047.
