Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Nagaland unit celebrated nine years of Modi government at its head office, Kohima, on Tuesday.
Ex minister and member BJP Nagaland, V. Kashiho Sangtam while speaking at the programme said Modi government had always prioritised inclusive development by focusing on the economic development, internal security and pushing the Northeast region to the mainstream.
Sangtam pointed out that Modi himself had become an ambassador of the cultural heritage of Northeast, and the state had seen progress and development under his leadership.
He said funds for the development of Nagaland had been increased four times under the NDA government as compared to the UPA government. He also said that 15th Finance Commission has given Nagaland a grant of Rs 4,773 crore in 2022-23, which was significantly higher than the Rs 1,283 crore released in 2009-2010.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had in the past years visited the Northeast more than 50 times which was more than all previous prime ministers put together, Sangtam said and pointed out that under the leadership of Narendra Modi, the government had worked towards achieving the goal of three ‘P’s’ in Nagaland- Peace, Progress and Prosperity.
He also emphasized that the contentious Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) had been withdrawn from many parts of Nagaland, including 15 police stations and said that the government was giving major attention to infrastructure related works in Nagaland which had put the state on the right track of progress and development.
Earlier, chief spokesperson BJP Nagaland, Kuputo Shohespoke delivered speech on behalf of the state BJP president. The programme was chaired by vice president, BJYM, Vechita Khesoh, and the welcome address was delivered by co chief spokesperson, Nini Cheng.
