State BJP unit through its spokespersons, has taken serious note of the statement by chief minister T.R.Zeliang in alleging that state BJP president Dr.M.Chuba Ao ignored the directives of national BJP in backing any faction of the NPF and termed the statement as “most shocking and uncalled for”.
The spokespersons said whatever decisions taken by the state BJP were “all collective decisions and not an individual decision” and asked the chief minister to spell out the source of his information.
They also said if the chief minister had any issue, he could have discussed with the state BJP president “ face to face instead of back stabbing” adding the attempt to implicate national BJP “ was foul”.
BJP also expressed strong condemnation on the statement of Apong Pongener working president NPF for “levelling unfounded allegation”on BJP that it had caused a rift between the two NPF groups and that BJP’s decisions endangered the future of NPF-BJP relationship.
Stating that BJP would not be perturbed by the “veiled threat”, the spokespersons said if Apong and NPF saw any problems with future relationship with BJP, then the party would take up the matter with the national BJP.
The spokespersons said it was known that relations between NPF-BJP had hit rock bottom due to the leader of DAN legislature and regretted that NPF led by “such leader” still wanted to take state BJP for granted.
BJP said since day one of the ongoing leadership crisis within NPF, it had made it clear that the party would only support the majority group for the sake of stability of the DAN-III government. The party said T.R.Zeliang had not formally nor informally approached BJP “because he could not never prove his group’s majority” and so the question of “supporting a minority group did not arise” as it would only destabilise the “already fragile government”.
The spokesperson said BJP opined that one week of internal conflict had already paralysed the government and affected public and therefore, people of Nagaland cannot be subjected to “further suffering” adding “better sense should prevail.”
