In a major setback for the State BJP, the Wokha district unit president Yanthungo Kikon tendered his resignation with immediate effect. Citing several reasons, Kikon expressed dismay over the functioning of deputy chief minister Y. Patton.
Stating that he had been a loyal follower as a party karyakarta, being a constituent of 37 Tyui A/C, Kikon, however, said Patton after being the home minister for two terms and currently holding the post of deputy CM has become “arrogant and inaccessible” to all, especially party karyakartas.
In his letter to the State BJP president, Kikon claimed that Patton does not entertain any supporter at his residence or office, but only his coterie has benefited, thereby throwing away the greater and wider opportunity for the party to grow in Nagaland. He also claimed that Patton had failed to keep his commitment to his voters, citizens and the party karyakartas.
