The BJP Legislature Party (BJPLP) has called for appointment of deputy chairpersons in urban local bodies (ULBs), where both the BJP and NDPP had contested together, from the BJP. The party contended that this step would contribute to maintaining and enhancing the strength of the PDA.
In a statement issued through the Dy CM’s office, BJPLP further appealed for accommodation of government nominees from the BJP to the respective municipal and town councils in consultation with members from the respective areas to prevent any misunderstandings between the alliance partners.
These were resolved at a BJPLP’s meeting held at Hotel Japfu, Kohima on Saturday.
BJPLP said it firmly believe that the leadership of the chief minister would respond positively to these requests, upholding the true spirit of alliance. Extending greetings and congratulating chief minister Neiphiu Rio for the successful conduct of the ULB elections, the party asserted that the PDA under Rio’s leadership had been further strengthened following the recently-concluded municipal and town council elections in the state.
