BKSL conducts training on modern horticulture technologies in Jalukie

Basix Krishi Samruddhi Limited (BKSL) conducted a specialized training programme on “Modern Technologies of Horticulture” on April 16 at the Central Model Training Centre (CMTC) in Jalukie Town, Peren district.

The programme was organized for the Farmers Interest Groups (FIGs) under the Jalukie Farmers Producer Company Limited, covering six villages across the Jalukie area. Resource persons from the District Horticulture Department, Peren — Horticulture Inspectors Izaile and Sushienla, led the training sessions.

Supported by the Central Institute of Horticulture (CIH), Dimapur, under the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Government of India, the initiative aimed to enhance farmers’ knowledge and adoption of Good Agricultural Practices (GAP), promote sustainable farming methods, encourage local value addition, and facilitate access to alternative markets for improved price realization.

Farmers in the Jalukie region primarily cultivate ginger, turmeric, pineapple, orange, Naga chillies, and seasonal vegetables. Through the support of the Jalukie Farmers Producer Company Limited (FPO), their produce is being aggregated for bulk sales, offering better market opportunities.

The training is expected to significantly boost productivity, enable farmers and the FPO to achieve better pricing, and contribute to broader Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
A total of 50 farmers actively participated in the day-long programme.
