One-day block-level community mobilisation training and sensitisation programme for School Management Committees (SMCs) and School Management and Development Committees (SMDCs) under EBRC Kushiabill was held at Western Sumi Hoho hall Chekiye village on Tuesday.
This convergence programme was jointly organised by the Directorate of School Education (DoSE), Samagra Shiksha, and the NECTAR Project with an aimed to strengthen the SMCs and SMDCs in understanding their roles, responsibilities, and various initiatives and activities under the Department of School Education.
Delivering Keynote address at the programmee, additional director of School Education, Erali Swu said that community mobilization was all about coming together with a common interest to uplift the education of their children and developing schools.
She reminded the SMDC and SMC members to know their roles, responsibilities, and develop the right attitude to make an impact in schools. She also mentioned that NEP 2020 marks a significant shift in education, therefore encouraged the gathering to embrace change and discard outdated mindsets.
Informing that Nagaland has a total of 1,930 government schools, 18,232 government teachers, and 136,159 enrolled in government schools as per the latest annual report, she said the department held a great responsibility in guiding and supporting students, especially young children, ensuring their growth and development.
Resource persons for the programme were additional director of department of School Education, Erali Swu, State Coordinator Meren from Samagra Shiksha, Project Associate, Diepeu Mero from Nagaland Education Project – Lighthouse, and Langthong Konyak from Nectar/P3.
