Blockade on DMC garbage vehicles

Sunrise Colony Council Dimapur on Tuesday said it has resolved to impose indefinite blockade on Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC)  vehicles carrying garbage to the dumping site located at Sunrise Colony starting from August 11, 2017.
In a press release, colony council chairman M Hanthung Phom and secretary, Athempu Kamei, said the move was initiated due to withdrawal of assurance to shift the dumping ground by the department of Municipal Affairs.
Requesting the public to bear with the inconvenience, the colony council further appealed all to join in its demand for pollution free air and water, which it said would become a reality only when the present dumping ground was shifted.
