Blockade relaxed on Kohima-Jessami road

DIMAPUR, JUL 18 (NPN)

The aggrieved landowners impacted by Kohima-Jessami 2-lane road construction project have announced temporary relaxation of the total blockade on National Highway 29.
In a press release, convenor of aggrieved landowners Kiiveliiyi Chuzho informed that the decision to relax the blockade was taken following the intervention of deputy commissioner (DC) Phek, CPO and CMA. As a gesture of goodwill towards commuters and the local community, Chuzho said the landowners have allowed the passage of vehicles on the affected stretch of NH-29.
However, the aggrieved landowners assorted that all activities and works related to the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) would remain blocked until a positive solution was achieved in the ongoing compensation dispute.
They stressed the need to address the unresolved compensation issues before allowing any further progress on the project.
Chuzho said blockade relaxation showed the landowners’ commitment to peaceful protests and their consideration for the welfare of the community.
Meanwhile, the landowners expressed gratitude to DC Phek for facilitating discussions. They called upon all the stakeholders to engage constructively towards a mutually satisfactory resolution.
