The body of a 19-year-old girl, who drowned in Chathe river near the irrigation dam on Sunday, was found on Monday.
According to ADCP crime and PRO T Relo Aye, the body was found downstream not very far from the place of occurrence. PRO said that the youth from Chümoukedima and nearby area recovered the body downstream at around 4:20 am.
Meanwhile, the PRO has advised people not to hang out near river banks during rainy season especially when the State was under lockdown.
It may be mentioned the young girl had reportedly gone to the riverside with two of her friends when a sudden strong water current swept away all three of them. While two of her friends managed to get out, the female was swept away by the strong current.
