Body of youth drowned in Doyang reservoir recovered

The body of a youth who drowned in the Doyang reservoir on April 11 was recovered on Friday morning, ending a six-day intensive search operation.
The body was first spotted floating in the main reservoir by a local fisherman around 5:40 am while checking his nets alongside SDRF personnel. Police confirmed that the body was that of Yilobemo Kikon. Authorities completed formalities and handed the body to the family. Deputy Commissioner Wokha, Vineet Kumar thanked all agencies, including NSDMA, NDRF, SDRF, NEEPCO, local fishermen, and villagers for their efforts. Terming the incident unfortunate, he urged strict adherence to safety protocols, use of gear, and avoiding solo trips. The vast reservoir, deep cold waters, and challenging conditions had hampered the search for days.
NEEPCO advisory: North Eastern Electric Power Corporation Limited, has informed that the Doyang Hydro Power Station (DHPS), Doyang, has been officially declared a protected area by the State government.
In a public advisory, General Manager (Tech.) and Head of Power Station, DHPS, Senkathung Patton, stated that the project area is a vital national asset meant exclusively for power generation.
NEEPCO laid down strict restrictions for compliance. It stated that no individual, group, or organisation shall collect any form of tax, fee, donation, or levy within the DHPS project area, or carry out any business, trade, or commercial activity within the premises without consent of the project authority.
It further stated that the entire DHPS area remains a protected area, and all activities are subject to applicable security regulations. Any person entering or engaging in activities without prior authorisation shall do so at their own risk. It also warned that unauthorised entry, occupation, or interference with project property and operations is strictly prohibited.
