Bomb blast outside Imphal airport

A bomb suspected to be planted by militants exploded near a crematorium outside the Imphal airport but close to Malom Manipur Terriers (TA) under Singjamei police station in Imphal West district on Sunday, around 11.55 am.
No casualty was reported in the blast which the police suspected was planted by an unknown individual who came on a scooter.
The police who immediately rushed to the spot examined CCTV footage installed near the blast site.
Preliminary findings suggested that an unidentified individual arrived on a blue Activa scooter around 11.34 am and was suspected to have planted the explosive device before fleeing the scene, the police said.
Authorities were yet to confirm the nature of the blast, and no group claimed responsibility so far.
