A bomb scare on December 23 morning in the heart of the town made people panic even as shopkeepers downed their shutters hurriedly and tried to run off from the place of the incident.
Police on receiving report about an unclaimed suitcase that was placed around the MMC shopping complex, cordoned off the area and the personnel from Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) swung into action. After a tense 40 minute examination of the suitcase, it was found out to be a suitcase containing clothes, presumably belonging to some passengers who had lost the bag while travelling as the location is a parking-cum-counter area. The police later took the suitcase into custody and kept it in the police station.
