Botsa village flays alleged attempted rape, murder

DIMAPUR, JUL 19 (NPN)

Botsa Village Council (BVC) and its frontal organisations have strongly condemned the attempted rape and murder of a mother of four, by one Khrietuolie Kense, of Tsiemekhu Basa village, on the evening of July 16, 2025.
According to BVC chairman Kehouzelie Rio, president Botsa Youth Organisation (BYO) Kikruhetuo Kense, president Botsa Women Organisation (BWO) Zakietuonuo Sanchu and president Botsa Village Students’ Union (BVSU) Neibou Kense; the mother of four children of Botsa village, while returning from her field on the fateful evening, was waylaid by the accused with the intention of rape and murder.
On reaching a secluded area, the accused pounced on the woman and pinned her to the ground and threatened her at knifepoint to keep quiet. Out of sheer courage the woman fought back but got injured with the knife, in the process, stated the Botsa village leaders.
The injured woman’s scream for help alerted people nearby and the perpetrator fled the scene on seeing the people approaching.
They said the woman narrated the entire incident after reaching the village. Thereafter, youth organisation launched a manhunt and caught the offender hiding in the jungle.
During interrogation, the perpetrator “admitted his intentions of rape and murder” after which, he was subsequently handed over to police.
In this regard, BVC along with all its frontal organisations have urged the law enforcing agency to expedite the investigation process and award befitting exemplary punishment as per the provisions of the law.
BVC also affirmed that the case should not be circumvented and bail be granted to the accused under any circumstances. BVC also warned that in the event of such situation, it will not hesitate to take any course of action.
