Bridge Music Academy holds parents workshop

Staff Reporter

Accomplished music educator and entrepreneur Ritesh Khokhar held a music education workshop for parents of Bridge Music Academy (BMA) students at its institute in SAS complex Purana Bazaar on Tuesday. The workshop exclusively for parents was to help them understand the benefits of learning music and BMA’s plans to reinvent itself to meet market requirements.

Elaborating on how students can purse music as a career, Ritesh Khokhar who is also the founder and chief executive of BMA, said youngsters are often led astray by unrealistic expectations and by trying to merely emulate their idols. He advised parents to help their children stay grounded to the reality and not be driven by money alone.

Khokhar highlighted that Nagas are inherently talented but lack theoretical knowledge, a critical component for growth of modern-day musicians. He also highlighted on how students do not invest enough time to package and market themselves and how the ‘shy’ and ‘introverted nature’ can be a setback as it holds them back from ‘bargaining’ for their true value and they are subsequently not rewarded fairly.

He further advised parents that their children can also tap into online platforms like Youtube, podcast and others to boost their online presence and advertise their skills. It is worth mentioning that Bridge Music Academy mulls introducing a course in schools which will help students tap their fullest potential in a manner that is scientific and holistic. The workshop was attended by the proprietor Tangit, staff of Bridge Music Academy and parents of students.
