Brutal gang-rape of pregnant woman

In another shocking incident, a 29 year-old pregnant woman was reportedly gang-raped by three youths who had abducted her near Old Showuba gate at around 8.30 p.m. Wednesday.
According the FIR with Police at East P.S, the victim was returning home to Old Showuba on foot with her husband after visiting her sister at the Referral Hospital (CISHR). Just as they neared the Old Showuba gate, some four youths in a Maruti Swift bearing registration number NL-07-4781 accosted the duo and began intimidating them.
The gang overpowered the husband and tried to tie him but he managed to escape. According to the FIR, the woman pleaded with the abductors to have mercy upon her as she was in an advanced state of pregnancy but they turned a deaf ear.
The gang then forcibly took the woman with them in the car and after crossing Old Showuba, stopped at a jungle near New Showuba.
The report said the gang threatened the victim that they were from an underground group and that she would be killed if she did not do what they wanted her to do. They then forced her to drink alcohol.
According to the victim, one of the gang members Tohovi Ayemi raped her twice inside the moving car in front of his accomplices. She also stated that another accused William Yepthomi even forced her to perform oral sex.
According to Police, the fourth gang member Akito Zhimo claimed he did not take part in the rape and instead had pleaded with his friends against committing the crime. He claimed his friends refused to listen. The victim was later dumped at the same spot where she had been picked up .
Police recovered the car at Vihokhu village in the wee hours of Thursday after an extensive search. The culprits were arrested from their respective villages and brought to East PS at around 2:30 a.m.
The four were identified as Tohovi Ayemi (21), son of Ato Ayemi of Vihokhu village, Mughato alias Mughaka Yepthomi (21), son of late Imato Yepthomi of Khehokhu village, William Awomi (22), son of Kiyekhe Awomi of Khehokhu village and Akito Zhimo son of Hevukhu of Vihokhu village.
Of the four, three who confessed to raping the woman were remanded on charges of abduction, molestation and rape, while Akito had been charged for abduction.
