Bible Society of India (BSI) 5th and 6th mile branches conducted promotional seminar Tuesday at 5th Mile Model Baptist Church, Chümoukedima. A press release by BSI Auxiliary Dimapur, stated that during the seminar, auxiliary secretary, Rev. Dr. Yiepetso Wezah, shared the importance of church participation in the ministry of the BSI.
“BSI is the handmaid of the Church in God’s mission. The Bible Society was formed by the church. Without the church there would not be a Bible Society,” said Rev. Wezah. He then added that Bible society and the church are partners to fulfil the great commission of the Lord Jesus Christ.
He pointed out that there are 7,396 living languages in the world, out of which the Holy Bible has been translated into 3,666 languages in full and part of it. Stating that there are still 3,730 languages without any part of the Bible, Rev. Wezah asked who should provide the Bible for them? He then said that it was the responsibility of individual believers and churches to provide the word of God.
Speaking on the role of a branch, assistant officer, Marwati, said the role of the BSI branch was to share the ministry of the BSI with churches and individuals. Marwati said the branch’s responsibility was to mobilise both human and financial resources to pray and support the ministry of the BSI. During the seminar, a song was presented by Asola. Altogether, 29 leaders from ten churches of different denominations participated in the seminar.
