Ghowoto Village Students Union (GVSU) and Baimho Students’ Union (BSU) held its 10th and 45th annual sessions respectively.
GVSU: Ghowoto Village Students Union (GVSU) held its 10 annual session on December 29 at Ghowoto village with president, youth wing, Aam Aadmi Party, Viccato H Aye as chief guest.
Exhorting the students, Viccato urged the students to make education as their top priority and know their responsibility towards society. Quoting Albert Einstein, ‘Education is the most powerful weapons to change the present world’, Viccato urged the students and youths of Nagaland to give clean election campaign a chance, “as we are lagging behind towards development due to excessive use of money during election.”
“Let’s not wait for candidates to give us money but let’s give them first our free vote to bring Nagaland back to development track,” he said and urged the students and youths to make the move first.
Also urging the church leaders to seriously take up clean election campaign, Viccato said Church also played important role in developing Nagaland.
Youth wing president also urged the students’ community to drop the idea of chief guest culture as it was not at all helping anyone. He asked them to make use of speakers in their programmes. Welcome address was given by president GGKK, Vitopu Aye, welcome song by GGKK. The chief guest was accompanied by general secretaries, Zato Awomi and Kheshika Awomi and HASSU president, Kughato Achumi and his colleagues.
BSU: Baimho Students’ Union (BSU) held its 45th annual session at Baimho village from December 28 to 30. The three-day session was graced by chairman-cum-principal of Livingstone Foundation Hr. Sec. School, Dimapur, Andrew Ahoto as the chief guest.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest highlighted the importance of a community or village to remain united to usher in development of the region instead of indulging in money based and cheap vote-bank politics. He also urged upon the gathering to choose a candidate on the basis of his merit so that he would work for the benefit of the people and bring development. Speaking on the sidelines of skill-management, Ahoto remarked that a nation or society without skill would ultimately kill the nation or society itself. He was of the view that education should not only be knowledge based but should also be skill based so that every individual got his fair opportunity of contributing in the development of one’s community.
An exhibition volleyball match was also played between Baimho Sports Association and Baimho Students’ Union. A special display of traditional games like Ami Kukla, Shalupa Kiche, Angu Kupusu and Kupxa Kuxu were also conducted during the programme.
Baimho village has two separate village administrative units viz. the Lashosha or Upper Baimho whose head GB is Ato Yepthomi. The other is the Lower Baimho or Chilsa administered by head GB, Vikato Yepthomi and Hotokhu Chophy and Ghutovi Achu as the GB’s.
Baimho Students’ Union has also expressed its immense gratitude to Andrew Ahoto and his family members for attending the function. The BSU further acknowledged every individual and organization for making the 45th annnual session 2016 a huge success.
Earlier, inaugural programme of the three-day annual session was held on December 28, chaired by vice-president of Baimho Students’ Union Ato M. Chophy. Invocation prayer was said by women co-ordinator, Ikatoli. The welcome speech was presented by BSU president, Pukaho N. Kiba.
The ‘Leshe’ recitation was done by Livino Chophy while vote of thanks was proposed by games & sports secretary of BSU, Inaka A. Achumi.
