Business community fatigued by collections: KCCI

Kohima Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) has said that the business community of the capital town Kohima was under tremendous stress and burden “due to excessive approach for patronizing many a philanthropic and charity deeds.”

In a public notice, KCCI stated that the business community of Kohima had always intended to offer quality products at reasonable rates in spite of all the odds they had to encounter. However, KMC said that compelled exaction upon the traders led to the parting away of huge chunks of one’s livelihood.

Further, KMC said the business community was fatigued from the numerous yearly collections from various elements besides buffets, concerts, dinner packs, lotteries, raffles, calendars, fund raisers and other multiple drives. “These collections have not only drained the business community economically but emotionally and psychologically as the modus operandi of coercing is adopted to fleece out the businessmen of their hard-earned money,” KMC said.

KCCI has asked its members to be generous in extending gestures of goodwill to foster a healthy relationship with the public. However, it also appealed to all concerned that business sectors cannot be deemed as the charity baskets as everyone or anyone was entitled a portion of one’s arduous yields.
