DIMAPUR: Business Owners Forum, Dimapur has taken note of recent discussions and reports concerning its nomenclature and placed the following facts on record for public information.
In a statement, the Forum clarified that its official name is “Business Owners Forum.” It is an independent body comprising like minded entrepreneurs who have voluntarily come together with common objectives relating to the legitimate interests, welfare and orderly functioning of the business community.
It explained that the reference to “Nagarjan” was merely descriptive of the location of its office and was never intended to suggest that the Forum derived identity, authority or legitimacy from any village council, traditional institution or customary authority.
Following interaction with the Kuda Village Council, and in the spirit of mutual understanding and respect, the Forum assured the Council that it would abstain from using the term “Nagarjan” in its organisational nomenclature.
The Forum reiterated that it respects all legitimate traditional institutions, village authorities and local bodies, and has no intention of interfering with their lawful functions or customary responsibilities. At the same time, it maintained that it remains an independent and voluntary association formed by its members for the advancement of their legitimate business interests.
It further appealed to all concerned not to misinterpret the mutual understanding regarding the use of a geographical reference as conferring any special status, jurisdiction or controlling authority over the organisation.
The Business Owners Forum affirmed its commitment to conducting activities peacefully, transparently and lawfully, while upholding the principles of voluntary association, mutual respect and the rule of law.
