By-election to 58 Shamator-Chessore A/C on October 30

By-elections to the 58 Shamator-Chessore (ST) Assembly Constituency would be held on October 30, 2021, the Election Commission announced on Tuesday. The by-poll has been necessitated as the seat fell vacant following the death of MLA and adviser Toshi Wungtung.

Chief electoral officer (CEO) Nagaland V Shashank Shekhar informed that the model code of conduct (MCC) comes into force with immediate effect in Tuensang district.

The gazette notification would be issued on October 1 and last date of nomination– October 8. Scrutiny of nominations would take place on October 11, and October 13 is the last day for withdrawal of candidatures. Counting of votes would be take place on November 2.

The Election Commission on Tuesday announced that bypolls to three Lok Sabha seats and 30 assembly constituencies will be held on October 30.
