Baptist Youth Fellowship Dimapur (BYFD), in collaboration with the department of Social Welfare, organised a seminar on “Awareness Generation Program on Substance Abuse” on October 14 at DABA.
According to BYFD, the first session was led by Dr. Tahito Kiyeto Vishepu, who spoke on the topic “Understanding the Issue.” He addressed the prevailing challenges of substance abuse in society and shared recovery resources, while urging the Church to play an active role in addressing the issue.
The second session, titled “Responding with Hope—Practical Tools and Guidance,” was conducted by Linoto Assumi, proprietor of Hope Counseling & Therapy Clinic. She emphasized the importance of compassion before correction and listening as a form of ministry. Assumi encouraged participants to validate emotions, avoid labelling, and recognize that silence is not failure. She cautioned against prayer shortcuts and stressed that healing begins within, urging all to focus on hope.
The programme was chaired by BYFD advisor Kewi, with invocation by associate pastor (Youth), PBAD, L. Chingshen. Vote of thanks was delivered by BYFD president Tovikali Shohe, and benediction offered by general secretary Thujolu Demo.
