
C-Edge College Dimapur celebrated International Mother Language Day (IMLD) on February 22 on the theme “fostering multilingualism for inclusion in education and society” at the College premises, GK Auditorium.
A press release by the college stated that while speaking on the theme, assistant professor, department of political science, Duvolu Rhakho stressed on the importance of multilingualism.
Highlighting the urgency required by the present generation to understand and learn one’s mother tongue, she enlightened the gathering to hold on to one’s language while respecting other language and dialects and to preserve and promote one’s identity.
Rhakho further emphasised on the importance of fostering multilingualism in educational foundation and society in general.
Earlier, BA VI Semester, Limugha Zhimo hosted the programme, president of evangelical union, BBA VI Semester, D Esther Sonar pronounced invocation, BA VI semester students of english department presented a folk fusion, Sapuna and Sotsula of BA II Semester from department of English recited poems in various dialects and vote of thanks was delivered by Soun Lam of BA VI semester.
