In view of the household based field study proposed to be conducted by Urban Vector Borne Disease Scheme, Dimapur, which shows high rate of presence of Aedes Aegypti (Vector of Dengue) in and around Dimapur, the Vector Borne Disease Committee has decided to hold Anti-Dengue Dry Day Campaign on Saturday every week in Dimapur town.
In a press release, the deputy commissioner (DC) Dimapur, Kesonyu Yhome, has therefore requested all the residents of Dimapur to observe anti-dengue dry day camping in and around their homes. During this campaign, DC said the citizens would clean all stagnant water inside and outside their homes like water in coolers, in water tanks, in flower pots, in coconut shells, broke/discarded vessels, tryes etc. Since this species of mosquito needs around one week to complete its life cycle, DC said the exercise needs to be carried out at least once a week to protect oneself from Dengue.
