Campaign on ‘drug- free Kiphire’ launched

The first phase of “Operation Good Samaritan”, a mass campaign against drug abuse with the involvement of community participation was launched in Kiphire on July 31.
The initiative conceived by SP Kiphire, K Swarnambika was to mobilize volunteer youths across Kiphire district, to go for door to door campaign, jointly with the Kiphire police, to spread awareness against drug abuse within the society.


Around 150 volunteers from Kiphire headquarters and 80 volunteers from Pungro Sub-division took part in the programme along with Kiphire police.
During the flagging off ceremony in Kiphire, SP Kiphire expressed appreciation to the volunteers for enthusiastically taking part in the programme.


She motivated the young volunteers to go for campaign to save the younger generation from drug menace and said “because of good Samaritans, the humanity still exists”.
She also sought the cooperation of the volunteers to make “Drug-free Kiphire”.


Addressing the volunteers in Pungro Sub-division, Additional SP, Lanu Aier briefed about the concept of “Operation Good Samaritan” and termed it as a proud moment for everyone. The flagging off was parallely launched in Kiphire headquarters by SP Kiphire and in Pungro Sub-division by Additional SP.
After the flagging off, the volunteers squads divided into teams along with Kiphire police carried out door to door campaign in wards in the Kiphire town and Pungro town and distributed pamphlets to each household prepared by Anti Narcotic Task Force of Kiphire police.


Participation certificates were distributed to all the volunteers of “Operation Good Samaritan” by SP Kiphire in Kiphire town and by Additional SP in Pungro Sub-division.
Meanwhile, one of the volunteers appreciated the concept of “Operation Good Samaritan” and expressed gratitude for giving an opportunity to involve in mass campaigning against drug abuse.
