DIMAPUR: Can Youth in collaboration with Thahekhu Village Students’ Union (TVSU), held a coordination meeting for Project Youth Social Action Forum on Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and Career Conflict on June 2 at Thahekhu Village, with support from Bosco Institute, Jorhat, Assam.
A press release by Can Youth stated that during the meeting, Can Youth’s youth facilitator, Livino Sumi, introduced the organization and highlighted its work since its establishment in 2010 in the areas of healthcare, education, leadership development and climate resilience.
She also briefed participants on Youth Resource Centre (YRC) Project and emphasized the significance of forming a Youth Social Action Forum to promote youth participation, social responsibility and community development.
Founder & Chief Functionary of Can Youth, Jenpu Rhakho Rongmei, shared the organization’s journey and further highlighted objectives of the project. He also underscored the importance of mental health and well-being among young people. The forum aims to address two critical yet often overlooked concerns, gender-based violence and career-related conflicts between youth and their families. Through dialogue, awareness and collective action, the initiative seeks to empower young people to become advocates for positive change and contribute towards building communities where rights are respected, voices are heard, and aspirations are supported.
The gathering focused on planning and strengthening collaboration for successful implementation of the forum, which aims to create safe and inclusive platform for youth engagement on pressing social issues. The meeting concluded with active participation and shared commitment to making the forum a meaningful platform for youth engagement, leadership, and positive social action and social change.
