Can Youth holds awareness programme

Can Youth organized awareness programme at Naga United Village on August 31, as part of its six months campaign with adolescents, addressing critical social issues impacting adolescents. The awareness programme focused on mental health, substance abuse, and social well-being, under the theme, “I CAN”.

A press release by Can Youth informed that Project Development Manager, Can Youth, Lovito M Chishi, provided detailed overview of the organization’s mission and vision, highlighting the campaign’s focus on mental health, substance abuse, and social wellbeing.

Psychiatrist from Dimapur District Hospital, Dr Temsuyanger, in his session explored mental health in adolescents and discussed challenges adolescents face due to physical and emotional changes, while emphasizing their potential as future leaders. He later encouraged them to develop life skills and lead meaningful lives, not relying solely on family support.

In the second session, Can Youth official, Jenpu Rongmei, delved into dangers of substance abuse and its impact on social well-being. He dwelled on losing his brother to drug addiction at a young age and his own struggles overcoming alcohol abuse. He later challenged the adolescents to support each other and prioritize healthy lifestyles to earn societal respect.
