Can Youth holds workshop on transparency, accountability

DIMAPUR: Can Youth organised a one day workshop on “Understanding the Role of Youth in Promoting Transparency, Accountability and Leadership Development” at Crete House, Police Colony, Dimapur, under the theme “Informed Youths, Accountable Leaders and Stronger Nations”, on June 19.
The programme, aimed at empowering young people to become responsible leaders and active contributors to society, brought together students from schools and colleges across Dimapur and Chümoukedima. The workshop commenced with an invocation led by Watinaro Pongener, facilitator of Can Youth. Resource persons for the day included Joshua Liezietsu, an intern of Can Youth from Amity University, Noida, and Jenpu Rhakho Rongmei, founder and chief functionary of Can Youth. Altogether 50 participants attended from institutions such as NEISSR, St. Joseph University, Livingstone Foundation International, Lima Aier Higher Secondary School, Diphupar Rongmei Students’ Union and Youth Ambassadors of Can Youth.
Sessions focused on nurturing leadership skills, teamwork and youth empowerment through interactive discussions, role plays and group activities. Key themes included unemployment, community development, governance, current affairs, integrity, accountability, self confidence, decision making, empathy and social responsibility.
The workshop concluded with a feedback session where participants shared reflections and experiences, highlighting the importance of creating youth spaces in educational institutions, churches and village organisations to nurture leadership among young people.
