Candidates organise rallies and campaigns across Nagaland

On account of the forthcoming general elections, various candidates from different political parties have been conducting rallies and campaigns throughout the state.
H. Khehovi: Riding on BJP’s plank of “saab ka saath, saab ka vikas” the party’s candidate for 33 Suruhuto-Asuto Assembly Constituency H. Khehovi, who has been on a campaign trail said that an overall development was necessary to bring about wholesome change in the area.
Khehovi said that he had set aside government job to bring about changes in the system of socio-political scenario in the area. Stating that he had concern for the weak and the downtrodden, he said if elected, he would strive towards the upliftment of the people.
The BJP candidate said that he will form a “think-tank” from among the people of the area and will set “Vision 2023” for overall development of Asuto-Suruhuto area. He further called upon the people to set aside any differences of the past and cooperate towards ushering development. (Correspondent)
Tovihoto Ayemi: BJP candidate for 1 Dimapur – I A/C, Tovihoto Ayemi addressed three public gatherings at Railway bazaar ward number 6, Netaji colony ward number 8 and Mustimuk ward number 7 on February 18.
A press release by BJYM Dimapur district president, Khekishe Aye stated that speaking at the programmes, Tovihoto said minorities formed a large group of people in 1 Dimapur – I constituency and assured them of protection.
Tovihoto said that various other developmental projects which remain incomplete would be completed with the help of the public.
BJP 1 Dimapur – I election in-charge, H. K. Khulu; NDPP state vice president, Tokheli Kikon; NDPP Dimapur district president, Kughato Aye; BJP Dimapur district president, Bendang; ward number 6 BJP convenor, P. Avi and other leaders also addressed the gathering.
Rongsenshilu: Youngest intending candidate from Mokokchung district, Rongsenshilu, who is 25 years, is contesting from the 27 Mokokchung Town Assembly Constituency with an Indian National Congress (INC) ticket.
Rongsenshilu said that he was contesting to ensure that the youth of the present generation have a brighter future without corruptions, and a stable government with true integrity.
He added that Nagaland was in need of noble public leaders who can transparently man the state of affairs with sincere dedication. Rongsenshilu added that his determination to contest was his strong believe in the call for “clean election” by the NBCC and ABAM, which, he said was a sincere clarion call to the people to remain Christians by faith.
Further, Rongsenshilu said that from apart many aims and objectives, one of his key priorities would be to usher in and enact broader schemes for the elderly people of the state (old age schemes) so that they live a healthier and happier life. “Nagaland needs to have a concrete change in the state of affairs”, said Rongsenshilu, “which I would like to stand for with likeminded public leaders with the support of the people”, he added. Zhaleo Rio: S. Alfred, former intending Independent candidate, 5 Ghaspani-II A/C, along with his supporters have joined the NDPP Camp “to work and elect Zhaleo Rio as the constituency representative from the forthcoming election”.
This was disclosed by Alfred while attending the induction ceremony of new members at Rio’s residence on February 19. Alfred noted that he came to understand Zhaleo as a visionary leader, dedicated for his people when they had marathon interactions. The former intending candidate expressed confidence to see their constituency develop in all spheres.
Meanwhile, Zhaleo Rio acknowledged the decision of Alfred with his supporters numbering more than 200, for joining NDPP. He revealed that the political situation in Nagaland became precarious due to several reasons and policies of the government while “acting deaf, dumb and blind to the needs of the people”.
He further expressed optimism on the upcoming three-cornered contest and was of the view that people are the best to judge who can bear burdens and responsibilities for them and that voters are the decision makers for tomorrow. He concluded saying that a large constituency like Ghaspani-II has hundreds of problems in relation to social as well as political affairs but that they will go through all these together to come out with flying colours.
Meanwhile, Miathou Krose, vice president, state NDPP, Duosau Kuotsu, president, 5 Ghaspani-II A/C and Tokihe Zhimo, general secretary, NDPP, 5 Ghaspani-II A/C, also exhorted the gathering, while Seyielhoutuo Keyho chaired the function.
