Can’t give NPF party to political tourists, professional defectors: Dr. Shürhozelie

NPF president, Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu, MLA on Friday asserted that the party cannot be given to the “political tourists who are professional defectors moving from place to place for comfort and enjoyment” and reminded that the NPF was a political party deeply rooted with the Naga society at all levels.
Addressing the NPF Central Executive Council (CEC) emergency meeting here at its central office Kohima, Dr. Liezietsu assured that the party would cooperate with the will of the people in the event of any political settlement to the Naga issue, which was expected soon. However, if no solution is arrived by 2018, he said the NPF will form the government and the party would stand for stability and development.
On dismissal of his government by Governor, Dr. Liezietsu said everything was pre-planned. Without giving the opportunity to put forth the, Dr. Liezietsu said his government was unconstitutionally dismissed.
He further went on to question that NLA speaker, Dr. Imtiwapang Aier that in spite of being fully aware of the unconstitutional decision of the MLAs in appointing/electing T.R. Zeliang as the whip, the speaker had recognized T.R. Zeliang as the whip on mere information of support given by the dissident legislators.
By doing so, Liezietsu said Dr. Imtiwapang had desecrated the high office/honorable chair of the Speaker. This will remain a black mark in the history of NLA, he said, adding “any further unconstitutional action of the Speaker will have its negative impact on his own political career.”
He was optimistic that Speaker would “not compromise to the temporary gain of his brother in-law.”
Acknowledging the past NLA Speakers of being impartial, Dr. Liezietsu said the State Assembly had maintained the record of being one of the most disciplined Houses in the entire country.
Dr. Liezietsu further pointed out that the political detractors of the other group never hesitated to tell lies. It was unfortunate that few weak leaders had fallen prey to these cheap games, he added.
Dr. Liezietsu said “the dissident group had tried to borrow one political party from Meghalaya State but that proposal was not agreed upon by few people. Thereby that attempt had failed while DPP which was earlier set up by one of their leaders was yet to be registered with ECI.”
On the ongoing court cases, Dr. Liezietsu said though the rival group wanted to delay the cases time and again till next election, they were yet to decide whether they would fight the elections on BJP or Congress ticket.  He said none of those in the other group would be given NPF ticket for the next election.
In his brief address, NPF legislator Yitachu said even if the 12 MLAs join the dissident group, they will not be able to dislodge the party as there were technical procedures to be followed.
Referring to the disqualification petition filed by the dissident group, Yitachu said they had clearly admitted that the “whip should be appointed by the party”. To this, Yitachu said it was up to them “whether to return to party fold or face the consequences.”
He said the dissident group, instead of attending office, have been holding frequent meetings since “they are worried.”
Also speaking, NPF working president, Huskha Yepthomi took a dig at Lok Sahba MP, Neiphiu Rio for wanting to become everything. He said Rio “wanted to be become chief minister, union minister, MP Lok Sabha, chief of DPP and now he wanted to become NPF president.”
He said those who do not know the genesis of NPF wanted to destroy the party. Referring to the bile, he said the 12 MLAs were liked the 12 disciples of Christ who stood for the truth.
NPF MLAs– Vikheho Swu and C.L. John also addressed the meeting.
Meanwhile, the meeting also adopted a 7-point resolution drafted by the resolution committee convenor, Pusazo Luruo, member secretary Sebastian Zumvu and members Renbemo Kikon and Hotoshe. Among the points, the CEC lauded the determination of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to find an honourable solution to the Naga political problem and also the efforts of the negotiating parties to bring a permanent solution to the protracted problem. The CEC reiterated the stand of the NPF that the solution should be inclusive of all stakeholders.
It also expressed pain over the fact that the Naga people did not agitate when the Nagaland Governor, PB Acharya watched the desecration of the Constitution of India by NLA Speaker and installed the undemocratic government headed by TR Zeliang. CEC said it was worried that this could be an indication that the Nagas were not satisfied with the present arrangement and provisions of the Constitution of India.
CEC also condemned the imposters camped at the luxury hotel at Bayavü hills and urged the Election Commission not to take cognizance of such charades meant to usurp Constitutional and legal organization of the NPF headed by Dr Shürhozelie Liezietsu.
CEC said it denounced the action of Lok Sabha MP, Neiphiu Rio, who had already formed his own political party Democratic Progressive Party but was also posing as the illegal and unheard of interim president of the dissident NPF group. CEC called upon the Nagas “to see through the joke being played on the public by this charlatan.”
CEC appealed to all active and primary members of the NPF to stand steadfast behind the party and not to embark on any political misadventure.
CEC also vehemently condemned the activities of unidentified elements out to create mischief in the State capital such as firing at Hotel Vivor and threatening government officials by entering into their residences. CEC extended sympathies to the family members affected by the unruly elements and appealed to all to abide by the laws of the land.
