Capacity building of development functionaries and local bodies for promotion of rural livelihood of North East under NRLM was held at Viswema Panchayat Hall on February 13.
Area Coordinator NRLM, BMMU Jakhama Block, Vitsu Yhome, has highlighted the programme and activities of NRLM undertaken in Jakhama division. He said that the programme under NRLM is to mobilise the poor, both urban and rural areas which was launch in the year 2013. He also stated that till date 185 SHG (Self Help Group) are registered where 28 SHG are from Viswema village.
The features of NRLM is to organize sensitization programme, maintenance of profile, community resource person round, training on book keeping records, to operate bank account. Under NRLM, 6 villages CRPR (Community Resource Person Round) have been covered.
Senior faculty SIRD, C Nyekha, in his speech, expressed optimism that with the capacity building programme, Viswema village would be benefited and called upon the members present to share their grievances and problems faced by them during performing their assigned duties.
BDO Jakhama, Khovi Thaprü, delivered welcome address while Vithuzol Kikhi, in his introductory speech, said Viswema is the largest village in Southern Angami area with 15000 population, 2039 household and area covering about 3 km approximately.
The programme was chaired by Block Programme Officer NRLM Jakhama

Highlights of the programme included presentation of folk song by Kekhrie SHG, chart presentation by SHG.
Interactive session and group discussion with SHG by trainees from SIRD was also part of the programme. Novohono invoke God’s blessing.
The officials from National Institute of Rural Development (NIRD), Guwahati, including A Samhachalam and K Ashwani also attended the programme as a part of study tour programme.
The programme was attended by VDB members, GBs, Khel chairmen and secretaries, village council members, and women organisation etc.
