To mark the occasion, a tree plantation drive was organised where saplings were planted by Maj Gen VPS Kaushik, Neiselie Kenguruse, ex-servicemen and village folks.
A COVID-19 immunisation camp was also organised at captain (late) N Kengurüse’s birthplace at Phezha which was inaugurated by his father.
To remove the apprehension amongst the locals on vaccination, the drive was led by Assam Rifles personnel.
In addition to the camp, an outreach to ex-servicemen in the form of a “grievance cell” was established at the location.
The event also witnessed distribution of essential medicines and COVID relief material to ex-servicemen and local populace.
In an effort to encourage recruitment of local women into Corps of military police a registration drive was also undertaken at the camp.
The day-long event culminated with administration of vaccine to people which served as a tribute to Capt N Kengurüse.
