Capt. N Kenguruse memorial football tourney dates, venue changed

DIMAPUR, OCT 8 (NPN): The 10th edition of the Captain N Kenguruse, Maha Vir Chakra (MVC) Memorial Football Tournament 2026-27 will now be held from November 2 to 9 at Indira Gandhi Stadium (IG Stadium), Kohima.
The tournament, organised under the aegis of Spear Corps, Indian Army and Inspectorate General Assam Rifles (North), Kohima, in collaboration with the Nagaland Football Association (NFA), was earlier scheduled from November 2 to 10 at IG Stadium, Kohima and Chümoukedima Football Stadium.
The tournament has been shortened by a day and will now conclude on November 9, with all matches to be played at IG Stadium.
The changes were made to avoid a clash with the Nagaland State & Para Games (NSPG) 2026 football event, which is scheduled from November 10 to 14. The Chümoukedima Football Stadium has also become unavailable due to upcoming turf renovation as part of preparations for the Indian Football League.
The decision to change the dates and venue was taken following deliberations among the Nagaland Olympics Association, Assam Rifles and NFA.
Meanwhile, the registration window has been extended till 8 p.m. on October 17 following requests from prospective participants. The extension comes in view of delays in registration caused by the earlier uncertainty over the clash of dates between the two state-level sporting events.
The 10th edition will also feature an increased prize pool of Rs. 8.69 lakh, up from Rs. 6.5 lakh in the previous edition. The winners will receive Rs. 4 lakh, with an increase in the other prize categories as well.
