A professional career guidance seminar for qualified and failed students of higher secondary level and their parents was organized Friday at Eastern Bible College (EBC), Dimapur.
The seminar was organized by Davao Medical School Foundation (DMSF) Philippines and Karavali Group of Colleges with Commissioner of excise, Nagaland Maongwati Aier (IAS) and proprietor Livingstone Higher Secondary School and president All Nagaland Private School Association (ANPSA) Ahoto Sumi as chief guest and guest of honour respectively.
Exhorting the gathering, Maongwati Aier described profession in medicine as one of the “noblest and honourable” professions and stressed on understanding the value of time and hard work required to master the subject.
Lamenting on the lack of medical institute in Nagaland, Maongwati such seminars for the students interested in medical department would provide an ample opportunity for them to strive for the best and take the right decision.
He encouraged the students by quoting Bible verse from the book of Timothy 1:7, that one should be confident and bold enough to “strike the iron when it’s hot”.
Guest of honour Ahoto also described medical profession as a “privilege job” as “service to mankind is service to God”.
Pointing out that it was not easy to get through medical examinations, Ahoto said to do so one should work hard and have the passion to pursue their dream.
He mentioned that “opportunity does not knock every time for everyone” thereby one who learnt to adapt his/her decision would be the one who will survive at the end.
Power presentation on DMSF Philippines was presented by its vice president Isaac Basker who maintained that 50 seats have been reserved for Nagaland and 100 seats for the whole of North East.
The programme which was chaired by CPVAE junior director Reverend Dr TN.Lotha followed interactive session where students and parents clarified their queries. Flyers reading the institutions were also distributed at the seminar.
