Career talk to empower students in Mokokchung

District employment exchange/model career centre organized an outreach programme on October 12 at the Industrial Training Institute (ITI) in Mokokchung. The primiary objective of the event was to empower students and promote self-reliance through career guidance and information.


According to a DIPR report, addressing the gathering, principal of ITI, Mokokchung, Er. Imlisunep highlighted the significant role of ITI in vocational education. District Employment Officer (DEO), T. Yimlikhumzuk Sangtam commended ITI for its invaluable contributions to vocational education and encouraged students to make informed career choices. He also shared the latest statistics on unemployment in Nagaland where as of June 2023, approximately 70,218 individuals were seeking employment opportunities in the state.


One of the event’s highlights was the “Career Talk” session and the promotion of the National Career Service (NCS). Yapang Jamir, a young professional from the Model Career Centre in Mokokchung, affiliated with the Ministry of Labour and Employment under the NCS project, provided insights into the various services offered by the National Career Service. The information gave students a roadmap to achieve self-independence after completing their ITI courses. More than 80 students enthusiastically attended the seminar, and engaged in discussions and gained valuable insights into their future career prospects.
