Carewell School organized a Road Safety Awareness Programme on October 18 to sensitize students and staff on the importance of traffic discipline and safe road practices.
The event, attended by students of Classes 6 to 10 along with teaching and non-teaching staff, was chaired by Chunglikumla, assistant teacher and member of the School Road Safety Committee. It commenced with a prayer song, followed by a welcome address from School Director, P. A special presentation by Class 10 students Epibeni and Machoni was followed by an interactive session led by Zubenthung Lotha, assistant commissioner of police (Traffic), Dimapur. He highlighted key causes of road accidents including speeding, drunken driving, and mobile phone usage while commuting, and urged all to follow traffic signals and exercise caution, especially in school zones.
Senchipemo Kikon, SIP, spoke on traffic regulations such as legal driving age, helmet and seatbelt use, and vehicle maintenance. He also informed about plans to install zebra crossings at strategic locations in Dimapur to improve pedestrian safety.
Certificates of appreciation were presented to the resource persons by the School Director. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Headmistress Diethonino Seyie, who expressed gratitude to the Dimapur Traffic Police team and all participants.
