CASU holds General Assembly in Chenmoho

The Chen Area Students Union (CASU) held its 48th General Assembly & Sports Meet from January 4 to 10 at Chenmoho village under the theme: “A call to eradicate abuse of drugs, opium and alcohol.” 

According to a late press release by CASU president, S Joseph Konyak and assistant general secretary, Anthony Wangnao, C L John, MLA, who graced the inaugural function on January 5 as the guest, appreciated the CASU for its achievements in various fields during the last 47 years. He also appealed to the student community to work hard and excel and appealed to them to pursue a career which would contribute to the economy rather than depending on government jobs. 

Cordinator, Konyak Theological Association, P Thaochi Shakai who was the main speaker in the session, spoke on the theme of the general assembly. Assistant professor of Mokokchung College of Teachers was the resource person at the women seminar held under the theme, ‘Personal development: Health, hygiene and nutrition.’ Additional secretary, Work and Housing, government of Nagaland, also delivered a exhortation during a special session.

Additional director, printing and stationery, L Nocklem, who is also the founding member of the union, graced the valedictory service as the special guest. Nocklem, in his address, narrated stories of the struggles during the initial stages of the union’s formation. 

He also appealed to the student community to be sincere and dedicated in every endeavour while also appreciating the union’s progress. 

Apart from games and sports, literary competitions like extempore speech, painting, spell bee, and essay writing were also held. 

Wangti Students’ Union were adjudged the overall champions while Chenmoho Students’ Union emerged as champions in the football tournament.
