Chen Area Students’ Union (CASU) has sought immediate intervention of the state government to address pressing issues confronting the citizens of Chen area under Mon district.
In a press release, CASU vice president Lockpa Konyak and general secretary M Keiwang Konyak pointed out that the union had submitted several representations to the school education department over the acute shortage of teacher from primary up to high schools across villages.
CASU said when they met school education advisor and principal director, a detailed chart was submitted highlighting a subject-wise teacher shortage and other challenges at villages.
To improve enrolment and performance of students in Chen area, CASU expressed hope that the responsible authority would act upon the issues with urgency.
Regarding health sector, the CASU the principal director H&FW was apprised on July 11, 2025 highlighting the need for full time medical officer at primary health centre Chenmoho and Staff/nurse at Chingkao primary health centre. The union said the department had been apprised of hardships faced by villagers due to poor healthcare system. CASU hoped that the government would intervene and address the issue.
In road sector, CASU said a letter was submitted to the chief engineer PWD (R&B) for site verification of road constructed under PMGSY-II connecting Aboi and Chen covering 21km. The union said it highlighted the substandard quality of road construction and appealed for 5-year maintenance works as mandated by the scheme. Acknowledging challenges faced by the government, the union expressed hope that government would respond positively.
