Chen Area Students’ Union (CASU) has extended its unequivocal support to the Konyak Students’ Union (KSU) in its demand for a review and restructuring of the state job reservation policy based on population ratio.
In a press release, CASU stated that the Konyak tribe, one of the largest tribal communities in Nagaland, continues to face systemic marginalization under the current reservation framework.
It noted that the disparity in employment opportunities, despite high literacy rates among youth, coupled with rising unemplo yment and poor socio-economic indicators in Mon district, underscores the urgency for immediate policy intervention.
CASU asserted that the demand raised by KSU is not merely a call for reform but a collective cry for justice, equality, and rightful recognition.
It cautioned that further delay in addressing the issue could deepen frustration among educated youth and lead to serious social repercussions.
The union urged the State Government to initiate steps for restructuring the reservation policy without waiting for the release of the 2021 census report, and to adopt a population-based system to ensure equitable justice.
Reaffirming its solidarity with KSU, CASU reiterated its commitment to work collectively for the upliftment and equitable rights of the people.
