The ten-day, Combined Annual Training Camp (CATC) for 400 National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadets from Nagaland commenced on October 17 at the Assam Rifles Garrison, Wokha. The camp is being conducted by 1 Nagaland Battalion NCC under Kohima Group.
During the 10-day training, cadets will undergo sessions in physical training, drill, field craft, weapon handling and live firing as per NCC curriculum and manuals. On the opening day, cadets were briefed on leadership, character development, regimental life and essential life skills.
In addition to core training, various departments of the Nagaland government will conduct lectures and awareness programmes on disaster relief, higher education, start-ups, employment generation schemes and basic healthcare.
Cadets will also participate in the first-ever “Banana Festival” being held in Wokha during the camp period, offering a unique cultural experience.
For many participants, this CATC marks their first exposure to community living and quasi-military training, reinforcing the NCC motto of “Unity and Discipline.” The camp will conclude on October 26.
