Civil Administration Works Division (CAWD) department, responsible for executing construction projects under various government departments, briefed the media on ongoing initiatives and completed projects.
Addressing the media at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, Chümoukedima assistant chief engineer Er. Sungtiba Amer provided updates on CAWD’s role in facilitating infrastructure development across the state, with a focus on improving administrative and allied facilities.
Over the past four years, he said CAWD has successfully completed approximately 30 major projects, including– DC office complexes in Phek and Mokokchung, DC bungalows in Tuensang, Phek, Wokha, and Kiphire and several ADC office complexes, SDO(C) and EAC offices, residences, and GA rest houses. He also highlighted several key projects currently in progress– DC office complexes in Zunheboto, Tuensang, Noklak, Shamator, Niuland, Tseminyu, and Dimapur, with the latter already sanctioned.
He also said that the DC Dimapur complex construction is set to begin soon while state-of-the-art Circuit House in Chümoukedima, was scheduled to commence construction in early February.
ADC Office Complex in Akuluto and GA Rest House in Longleng is expected to be inaugurated within this fiscal year. Amer also disclosed that CAWD was piloting 14 pre-engineered residential structures for 13 EACs and one ADC headquarters.
He said that CAWD was extending its work beyond general administration by undertaking projects such as District Court complexes in Wokha, Tuensang, and Zunheboto; Judicial officers’ flats in Mon and Mokokchung; Village Guard rest houses in Thizama ; District Jail in Longleng and Nagaland Olympic Association Office Complex in Kohima. He also informed that Nagaland’s 17th DC headquarters, Meluri, is set for inauguration on February 21, marking a significant milestone in the state’s administrative growth.
He also mentioned that the CAWD had successfully constructed EVM and VVPAT warehouses for the Election department in multiple districts and continue to execute semi-permanent and temporary structures for CPMF (CRPF) centers across the state.
Er. Amer expressed gratitude to the state government and chief minister for prioritizing infrastructure development and ensuring effective administration, emphasizing the transformative impact of these projects on the state’s overall progress.
