Chakesang Baptist Church Council (CBCC) and Baptist Theological College (BTC), Pfutsero, Nagaland Theological College Association (NTCA) have expressed shock over the untimely demise of Rev. Prof. K. Lasuh, the Executive Director of Kuzhami Baptist Churches Association on July 14 after battling cancer.
In a condolence message, Executive Secretary CBCC, Rev. Khrotso Mero and president CBCC, Rev. Kevengoi Sakha has said that late Rev. Lasuh was among the first Biblical scholars and was the first to confer professorship from among the Chakhesang community. “With much passions and commitment, he devoted his entire life into teaching ministry beginning at Eastern Theological College (ETC), Jorhat and then later in the CBCC ministry serving as lecturer and Principal of the Baptist Theological College, Pfütsero for many years”, it stated.
He was also passionately engaged in the Bible translation works of Kuzhale Chakhesang Bible under Bible Society of India as one of the Bible Translation Committee members until his death. In his death, the church has lost a seasoned Biblical scholar, a most loving, humble and faithful servant of God. The CBCC said that his outstanding and faithful contributions rendered over the years especially towards the growth and development of Baptist Theological College shall ever be cherished and remembered in the history of CBCC. At this time of great loss and sorrows, CBCC prayed for all God’s sufficient grace and comforts upon his beloved wife, children and family members and further prayed for the departed soul to rest in peace.
BTC: Baptist Theological College (BTC), Pfutsero principal, Dr Eyingbeni Humtsoe-Nienu in a condolence note has described late Rev. Prof. K. Lasuh as a Christian minister who served God in different capacities. He spent his most and best ministry years at BTC, Pfutsero and made invaluable contributions to its progress. Lasuh first joined BTC in 1975 when it was called Chakhesang Bible School and the medium of instruction was in Tenyidie. He was the headmaster from then till 1979. In 1976, during his headship, English was introduced as a medium of instruction and the institution was renamed Chakhesang Bible Institute. In 1979 he joined ETC, Jorhat, as a ‘Promotional Secretary’ and from 1980-81 as a faculty. After two years of study leave for Masters of Theology in Old Testament, he returned to ETC to continue teaching. He was ordained by CBCC on May 3, 1987. In 1992, he returned to BTC and joined its faculty and later took charge as the Academic Dean. From 2002 onwards he took up the office of the Principal till his retirement in April 2009. He was conferred professorship in ‘Old Testament and Biblical Studies’ on February 25, 2008 for his academic scholarship.
NTCA: Nagaland Theological College Association (NTCA) while expressing deep sympathy over the sudden demise of professor, Rev. K Lasuh stated that as recounted, he was a simple, humble and God-fearing servant of God. In a condolence message, NTCA president, Dr. Rushulo Seb stated that late Rev. K Lasuh as he departs this life, NTCA said that it has lost one of the strong pillars in the field of theological education among Nagas and beyond. His contribution to the theological field will always be cherished and remembered, it added. NTCA conveyed condolences with prayers of comfort and strength to his bereaved family.
