Chakhesang Baptist Church Council (CBCC) has resolved to “fully support” the ongoing Measles-Rubella (MR) vaccination campaign being undertaken by the department of Health and Family Welfare (H&FW) in the state.
In a press release, CBCC executive secretary, Rev. Dr. Vezopa Tetseo, sought to dismiss certain misgivings, rumours and false prophesies with regard to the ongoing MR vaccination campaign. CBCC expressed the view that the vaccination campaign was a part of the global efforts to eradicate the measles and rubella diseases initiated by Government of India and endorsed, promoted and sponsored under World Health Organisation (WHO) programmes.
Citing WHO report, the CBCC said Measles and Rubella were highly contagious viral diseases and to prevent and control this dreaded diseases, around 150 countries were currently using MR vaccines, which were proven to be highly safe and effective.
CBCC, therefore, said that it was the moral obligation of the church to “ensure that each and every individual to have the opportunity to live a healthier and fuller life which is the will of God.”
In view of this, the CBCC said its executive meeting held on October 18 and 19, 2018 resolved to fully support the ongoing MR vaccination campaign. It also resolved to appeal all the people to ensure that all the children between 9 months to 15 years were vaccinated in due time.
Further, CBCC resolved to appeal all the believers not to be swayed by certain false prophesies related to MR vaccines which claimed to have emerged from so called prophets\prayer centres\individuals unrecognised by the Church and which do not have any Biblical basis.
