To create awareness on the importance of keeping the public areas clean, volunteers of Chakhesang Baptist Church Dimapur (CBCD) and Chakhesang colony jointly carried out social work within Dimapur town area on Saturday.
The cleanliness drive was carried out starting from the church premises, Chakhesang colony- churches colony- city tower- Nyamo colony- fly over, Battacharali.
Church and colony members actively participated in the drive.
The members also pasted placards which read “My city, my responsibility”, “Live healthy by taking care of your waste”, “Paan laga thuk sob jaga te na thukibi” , “Sob Dukan nijor safa rakhibi”, “Rasta Moila nakuribi, dustbins to cholabi” etc.
CBCD pastor Rev. Bonny Resu said that the objective of conducting the drive was to show concern on keeping the surrounding clean as it was important for the overall development of citizens in terms of health and well-being.
He said that it was just a beginning and that cleanliness should start from home and churches. Resu also said that school, institutions and churches could play an important role on cleanliness stating that awareness created in these platforms could significantly contribute to a better understanding.
GB Union Dimapur vice president W Kholie Kapfo, who is also a resident of Chakhesang colony, said that individual should start taking initiative to clean the place and area, inculcate civic sense instead of depending on Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) to keep the city clean.
