Observing the lack of open conversations on marriage in many homes, the Youth Department of Chakhesang Baptist Church Ministers’ Hill Kohima (CBCMHK) organized a conclave on “Christian Marriage” on April 26 at the church premises, specifically for millennials and generation Z.
A press release from CBCMHK Media and Publicity informed that the conclave was held to address the discomfort, taboo, or even fear that often surrounds discussions on marriage among both parents and their children. As a result, many young people are left unprepared and lack spiritual and moral guidance based on Biblical teachings.
Moderating the session on “The Baptist Distinctive on Holy Marriage,” Youth Director Rakodu Nukhu explained that marriage remains a concern for many young people today, particularly within the Baptist context, where clarity and guidance are often lacking. He expressed hope that the discussion would equip participants with a deeper understanding of marriage.
Rev. Dr. Vetso Koza, pastor of Chakhesang Baptist Church Dimapur, elaborated on the Baptist perspective on holy marriage, acknowledging that guidelines on holy marriage are limited and largely unexplored. He emphasized that, as Christians, marriage should be built upon Biblical foundations, stating that marriage is instituted by God and that pastors or reverends merely administer the union.
Lanu Vihienuo, headmistress of Dayspring Preschool, Kohima, conducted a session for female participants, while Rev. Koza led discussions for male participants on the topic “Preparing for Godly Marriage.”
Over a hundred participants attended the conclave. Earlier, Senior Pastor Rev. Dr. Vevo Phesao delivered the invocation, followed by a youth worship service that concluded the program.
