CBCNEI appeals for peace in Shamator, Kiphire towns

Appealing to the tribal communities residing in Shamator and Kiphire towns to maintain peace, the Council of Baptist Churches in Northeast India (CBCNEI) has said responding to conflict with violence would not bring any solution or peace rather it would only bring hatred and killings in the society.
In a press release, CBCNEI general secretary Rev. Dr. Solomon Rongpi urged the communities to engage in constructive dialogue with calm mindedness to thwart off any future escalation of violence.
“Let the peace of God which surpasses all understandings prevail upon our judgments against one another and forgive to overcome bitterness and strive to work together towards peaceful co-existence,” said Rev. Dr. Rongpi.
He said forgiveness was the only way to achieve peace and harmony in every society today, adding that “being God’s children let the beauty of Christ be seen in us through our faith, patient, forgiveness, good works etc.” Besides, Rev. Dr. Rongpi stated that “we should initiate to build a peaceful and friendly society in our state today.”
CBCENI general secretary said it was essential part of Christianity to spread God’s freedom and regenerate love, peace, unity, with an attitude of welcoming and merciful towards all tribe, races, or communities living together in a state where Christians were majority “so that everyone may encounter the goodness and mercy of God and have fullness of life in the state of Nagaland.”
