Advisor for IPR and Soil & Water Conservation, Imkong L. Imchen, inaugurated the Command and Control Centre (CCC) at the Directorate of Soil & Water Conservation, Kohima, on October 13. The CCC is funded by the Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, GoI, and the Government of Nagaland under the Soil Health and Fertility component of RKVY.
According to DIPR report, speaking at the commissioning, Imchen said the CCC would ease the burden of field staff and farmers by facilitating informed decision-making and addressing challenges related to soil and crop management. He emphasized the need to bridge the gap between experts and farmers through accessible communication and urged officers and farmers to foster mutual trust to reflect the department’s commitment to innovation and sustainability. Director, Soil & Water Conservation, L. Chubaonen, presented a technical overview of the CCC, describing it as a centralized digital hub designed to enhance data-driven decision-making, real-time monitoring, and effective implementation of soil health initiatives. He said the CCC aims to improve coordination between district offices, laboratories, and the Directorate, and will serve as a communication hub for farmer advisories. The Centre is equipped with a dedicated server system, integrated GIS software for spatial mapping, video conferencing facilities, and workstations with Wi-Fi connectivity to support soil management, data analysis, and field-level monitoring under RKVY and other schemes.
