A 12-member multi-disciplinary team from the Centre for Contemporary China Studies (CCCS) under the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Government of India, visited Nagaland and other locations in the Northeast.
According to a DIPR report, the team, led by Aparna Ray, joint secretary, CCCS, was on an orientation programme aimed at familiarising members with the ground situation along the Indo–Myanmar border and understanding the perspectives of local civil and security administrations in the region.
During their visit to Dimapur on March 12, the delegation held discussions with officials of the district civil administration at the DC’s conference hall. The interaction focused on possible changes in the law and order situation following the ongoing conflict in Myanmar, the prevailing security scenario in the region and the reasons behind the movement of Myanmar nationals into Nagaland.
The team also sought to understand whether any emerging business or economic interests were linked to the cross-border movement.
The meeting was chaired by ADC Dimapur Zakabo V. Rotokha, and attended by officials from the district administration and other concerned departments.
