The 15th general session of the Chokri Chakhesang Literature Board (CCLB) was held on July 18 at the Multi-Purpose Hall of Government High School, Japan Riba, Chozuba, under the theme “Language is the First Identity.”
Former NLA member, Dr. Chotisuh Sazo, graced the session as guest speaker and addressed around 300 delegates. He emphasized the importance of preserving mother tongue and said that language was the true identity of humanity. He encouraged families to speak their native language at home and urged the community to be sincere during the upcoming census drive in 2027.
The theme session featured presentations by Shekholu Tetseo, research associate at SCERT Nagaland, on “Promoting Language,” and Zachilhu R. Vadeo, core committee convenor, on “Chokri Language: Developmental Activities.” The session was moderated by Dr. Zokho Venuh, principal of Capital College of Higher Education, Kohima.
The inaugural session was led by Nuveta Khusoh, with an invocation by Rev. Vesavo Shijo, pastor of CVBC. Outgoing chairman, Ariyi Nienu, delivered the keynote address and also released the quarterly journal “Chokri Jüye Da.” A special folk tune was presented by Dr. Sazo and Shetsuyi Ruho. Vote of gratitude was given by CCLB general secretary (Admin), Vekhozo Ringa.
The event was supported by leader of the NPF Legislature Party, Kuzholuzo Nienu, who sponsored the entire session.
Meanwhile, a new office bearers for the 2025–2027 tenure was also installed. Vekhozo Ringa will serve as chairman, with Vethikhoyi Khamo (Gen. Administration) and Khrusahu Rhakho (Gospel Literature) as vice chairmen. Dr. Vekhruzo Keyho was appointed general secretary (Admin), and Kevesho Tetseo as treasurer.
