Core commitee meeting with NSCN (I-M) leaders fruitful, says Kronu
Core Committee on Naga political Issue (CCoNPI) on Wednesday held its second round of talks with leaders of NSCN (I-M), at Rhododendron Hall, Chümoukedima Police Complex, Dimapur.
Interacting with media persons after holding talks for more than two hours, CCoNPI member-secretary and minister Neiba Kronu said both delegations had a fruitful meeting. He asserted that both parties updated each other on the latest political situation.
Kronu further added that the committee was trying its best to bring all entities together. He also said CCoNPI has sent the message to NSCN (I-M) leaders that talks should be resumed at the earliest. He also added that the committee would hold talks with all entities.
When asked if the committee would also meet with all three entities together, Kronu said, CCoNPI as facilitator, would try its best and maintained that it would be best if all entities come together and talk. “The committee would try its best for all three entities to come together and have the talk under the same table,” he stated.
When asked if the state government had appealed the three groups to come together and hold talks, Kronu asserted that all will eventually have to come together as there was going to be only one solution. “When it is going to be one solution, from any corner they also have to come together”, he stated. When asked what was the main issue of the ongoing talks, Kronu hinted that it was about a communication gap. “There was a communication gap I would say. If we can sit across the table, they would understand each other”, he stated.
When asked if Naga constitution and flag was not the issue anymore, Kronu said that this could be best answered by the negotiation parties. “We leave such issues to the negotiating parties”, he added.
Kronu also maintained that it depended on the negotiating parties as to when Naga solution could be secured.
Ravi relinquishes role as Interlocutor; Mishra to continue talks with NPGs

DIMAPUR, SEP 22 (NPN): Government of India’s representative and Interlocutor for Naga peace talks, R.N. Ravi relinquished the post of the interlocutor on Wednesday.
Highly placed sources informed Nagaland Post that Ravi wrote to Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on Wednesday requesting the ministry to relinquish him as it was “inconvenient” for him to discharge his duty as the Interlocutor after being appointed as the Governor of Tamil Nadu.
“R N Ravi’s resignation as interlocutor for the Naga peace process, submitted by him today (Wednesday), has been accepted with immediate effect by Government of India,” a home ministry spokesperson told PTI.
Since the post of Interlocutor has fallen vacant, sources said Mishra was likely to be appointed as the new interlocutor in the next few days.
However, another source said it was unlikely that government of India would appoint a new interlocutor as formal talks has concluded. The source added that Mishra would continue his role as government of India’s representative and engage with Naga Political Groups and try to bring together the groups to ink the final agreement.
Ravi was appointed as the Interlocutor for Naga talks after the Modi government took over in 2014. He was also later appointed as Nagaland Governor in 2019.

According to the media cell, Mishra was made aware that WC, NNPGs’ “Agreed Position” signed on November 17, 2017 remained “an incomparable political document reaffirming Naga political and historical right, guided and empowered by the Naga tribes, traditional institution like the Nagaland Gaon Bura Federation (NGBF), the Church and other Naga Civil societies.”
He was also informed that all political matters have been touched upon and formal negotiations had concluded on October 31, 2019, in New Delhi, the media cell stated.
Further, media cell said that “GoI representatives were briefed on the disturbing trends of abduction for ransom, threats and intimidations against traders, embezzlement of public wealth in the garb of Naga struggle by gangsters and criminals, owing to delay in announcing acceptable political solution.”
Since the negotiations had completed with all negotiating groups, media cell said the committee pointed out that “it is a right time for the GoI representatives to gauge the pulse of Naga tribes and Civil societies and sign the political agreement without delay.”
